The Isabella Indian Reservation is the main area of land for the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Nation, which is officially recognized by the U.S. government. This reservation is located in Isabella County, in the central part of Michigan. The tribe also owns small pieces of land not on the reservation in Standish Township, Arenac County, near Saginaw Bay and southeast of the city of Standish. These tribal lands are managed by the U.S. government for the tribe.
The tribe owns and runs the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in Mount Pleasant and the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino in Standish.
The tribe made a deal with the state to extend the area where they can enforce laws for their members. This expanded area applies only to law enforcement and tribe members, not to the entire Mount Pleasant community.
