Holland State Park is a public park covering 142 acres, which is about 57 hectares. It is located in Park Township, Ottawa County, four miles (6 km) west of the city of Holland, Michigan. The park includes two separate areas near Lake Macatawa and Lake Michigan, situated on the northern side of the channel that connects these two lakes. It is frequently the most visited state park in Michigan, attracting between 1.5 and 2 million visitors each year.
Activities and amenities
In addition to swimming, boating, fishing, and camping, the park includes sand dunes, picnic areas, playgrounds, and views of Holland Harbor and the Holland Harbor Light, known as "Big Red." The Lake Macatawa unit has a campground, beach, and public boat launch. The Lake Michigan unit has a paved campground, pavilion, and a wide sandy beach along Lake Michigan. The nearby channel breakwall is a popular place to walk during the summer, but it is not meant for public use and can be unsafe during bad weather.
