Muskegon Community College (MCC) is a public community college located in Muskegon, Michigan. The college provides 49 associate degree programs and 33 certificate programs. Its main campus covers 111 acres in Muskegon, and it also has extension centers in Ottawa and Newaygo counties.

Kirtland Community College was created in 1966 by a vote from six local school districts: Crawford-AuSable, Fairview Area, Gerrish-Higgins, Houghton Lake, Mio-AuSable, and West Branch-Rose City. It was established under the rules of Michigan’s Public Act 188 of 1955. Kirtland is the largest community college district in Michigan by size, covering 2,500 square miles (6,500 km²) and serving parts of nine counties: Ogemaw, Oscoda, Roscommon, Crawford, and areas of five other counties.
Delta College’s district started in 1955 and included Saginaw, Midland, and Bay counties. In 1957, voters in these counties agreed to build the college, and it opened for classes in 1961. Delta College replaced Bay City Junior College, which was created in 1922, because the junior college could not handle the increasing number of students.
